Everyone Has a Role to Play

The ARMP depends on the knowledge, experience, and perspectives of stakeholders across the Navajo Nation and beyond. The following are some of the key groups whose input is essential.


  • Agricultural Producers

    Livestock producers, traditional farmers, crop growers, agricultural cooperatives, beginning and young farmers, women in agriculture, and specialty crop producers.

  • Tribal Members

    Community members, elders with traditional knowledge, youth interested in agricultural careers, families in subsistence agriculture, community garden participants, and cultural preservation advocates.

  • Tribal Government

    Navajo Nation Council delegates, chapter officials, grazing officials, land board members, farm boards, and departments including Agriculture, Natural Resources, Water Resources, and EPA.

  • Federal & State Agencies

    USDA, NRCS, Bureau of Indian Affairs, EPA, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and state departments of agriculture in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah.

  • Environmental & Conservation

    Traditional ecological knowledge keepers, conservation organizations working in the Southwest, watershed protection groups, wildlife conservation organizations, and climate adaptation advocates.

  • Educational & Research

    Navajo Technical University, Diné College, university extension services, research institutions, agricultural education programs, and youth organizations including 4-H and FFA.
